Registered Nurse - Correctional Facility
- $36.70 Hourly – Permanent or Part-time

We are looking for an experienced Division 1 Registered Nurse to work in a correctional facility. The clinical unit forms part of a larger organisation providing nursing services within correctional facilities throughout Melbourne.
You will be working within a small multidisciplinary team of highly skilled healthcare professionals delivering quality primary health care and monitoring a comprehensive range of health needs.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing primary health care services to prisoners in a correctional facility and facilitating secondary and tertiary referrals with external providers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse Division One looking for permanent or a permanent part-time role to gain experience in a correctional setting. Both roles will be on a rotating roster including weekends.
The role is equivalent to RN Grade 3 so excellent salary applies. A background in acute or emergency nursing would be ideal. Exposure to mental health/forensic nursing is desirable but not essential. Excellent orientation and support provided.
Responsibilities include:
- Reception screening of prisoner health requirements
- Comprehensive physical and psychological assessments
- Case Management planning
- Emergency Care
- Infection Control
- Health education to prisoners
- Pathology collection
Key criteria include:
- Proficient and timely documentation and reporting skills
- Division 1 Nursing Registration
- Ability to deal with a comprehensive range of health requirements
- Ability to work independently whilst working in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent patient assessment skills
- Willing to undergo Police Check and Working with Children Check clearance
